INDIANAPOLIS (CNN) – Despite beating sun and dangerous temperatures, more than 2,000 runners took to the pavement on Thursday night.
Run 317 off Massachusetts Ave. went on as planned.
The extreme heat forced race organizers to take precautions.
They put the run under a yellow flag on Wednesday and then updated it to a red flag on Thursday afternoon.
While runners were urged to take it slow, more water and spray stations were on tap to make sure no one fell victim to sizzling temperatures.
