Dozens of Illinois State Police employees were honored this week at the annual awards ceremony.
Troopers, forensic scientists, even dispatchers were recognized for exemplary service to the people of Illinois.
Awards included purple hearts and medals of honor.
Organizers say the recipients and all employees put their lives on the line for others.
The Illinois Officer of the Year was a special agent on the “Methamphetamine Response Team” who dismantled 78 meth labs in one year; seizing more than 18,000 grams of the drug.
