A local group brings hope of opportunity with its first job fair.
Jacobsville works to help people from the neighborhood connect with employers and community resources. On Saturday, the Jacobsville Employment Workgroup held its first ever job fair.
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, employers like Aerotek, Ameriqual and Vectren were at the SWIRCA building in Evansville.
Organizers tell us today’s job fair was about more than helping people find a job.
“Our goal was to provide not only opportunities for employment, but sources for some of those barriers to employment so whether it’s childcare, or banking or legal services, just those things that people need to help get a job and keep a job,” says Jacobsville Employment Workgroup Co-Chair Amanda Schmitt.
If you weren’t able to make it to Saturday’s job fair, Jacobsville Employment Workgroup offers on-going resources at the Dream Center at 16 W. Morgan Avenue.
