Joey Chestnut will return to Owensboro

Competitive eater Joey Chestnut is returning to Owensboro for the 3rd annual World Mutton Sandwich Eating Competition, presented by Kentucky Legend, on May 11.

Joey Chestnut will be defending his title, after winning the competition last year with a world record.

The competition takes place during the International Bar-B-Q Festival in downtown Owensboro.

About 10-12 contestants will compete to beat the current world record held by Chestnut, which is 81 4oz mutton sandwiches in 10 minutes.

Chestnut also holds close to 40 competitive eating world records, including hot dogs, apple pies, chicken wings, glazed donuts, funnel cakes, and more.

The eating competition will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at McConnell Plaza in downtown Owensboro.
