Judge: Juvenile accused of killing two men can be tried as adult

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – A judge rules that a juvenile accused of killing two people earlier this year can be tried as an adult.

Daviess County Attorney Claud Porter says the case will be transferred to Daviess County Circuit Court.

The 17-year-old juvenile is accused of killing two men at a home on Crisp Road in Whitesville this past June during a party.

Two people, 18-year-old Jasper Brown and 16-year-old Amarius Winstead, died.

In June, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office interviewed more than 40 people to get a better picture of what happened at that party.

The juvenile was arrested a few days later.

Porter says the identity of the juvenile cannot be released until a Grand Jury indicts that person.

He adds a Grand Jury could decide on an indictment before the end of this year.
