OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – A jury is selected, opening arguments are delivered, and testimony is underway in an Owensboro manslaughter case.

Benjamin Lindsey is on trial in connection with the March 2018 death of Jose Chavez.

Police say Lindsey and Chavez got into a fight in which Chavez received several injuries.

Police believe after the fight, Lindsey dropped Chavez off at a house on Wandering Lane. Police then responded to the home and Chavez was taken to the hospital.

Chavez died several days later. The coroner says he died from blunt force trauma.

The trial is expected to wrap up later this week.
