FRANKFORT, Ky (WEHT) — Governor Andy Beshear announced Monday a change to the state mask mandate. Beshear says because of vaccination numbers, restrictions on outdoor events can be loosened.
A mask is no longer required at an outdoor event with fewer than 1,000 people attending, such as a school soccer game or backyard barbecue. Outdoor events with greater than 1,000 people in attendance, such as the Kentucky Derby, still require masks to be worn.
The change in the mask mandate only applies to outdoor events. Masks should still be worn indoors when people outside your immediate family are present, such as at a grocery store.
