FRANKFORT, Ky (WEHT) – It’s been a challenging few years for the Bourbon industry.

Right now, there are 95 distilleries across 40 Kentucky counties, which is three times the amount from 20 years ago. The Kentucky Distillers Association (KDA) says that despite struggles during the pandemic, the KDA has put more than 8 point 9 billion dollars back into the economy and employs more than 22 thousand Kentuckians. Over the next five years three point three million dollars will be used for several projects across the state.

“Folks that means construction jobs, that means things happening in our community, that means food is put on the table for more than the direct employees – it has a serious and great economic impact. ” Governor Andy Beshear said.

Governor Andy Beshear also thanked KDA for donating more than three point four million dollars to the Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund, making it the biggest donation to date.
