Kentucky

KENTUCKY (WEHT) – Governor Andy Beshear delivered his budget address on Thursday, calling on state lawmakers to make investments to build a world-class education system, grow the jobs of the future and turn two years of progress into 20 years of prosperity.

Gov. Beshear noted the state is recovering from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and saw record new private sector investments in 2021. The governor highlighted a record setting revenue surplus, with $1.9 billion more in the General Fund revenues than budgeted in the current year and the best back to back growth rate since 2005-2006.

Earlier this week, Beshear outlined his budget plan which called for $250 million in one-time funds to develop a Site-Identification and Development program.
