Gov. Beshear gave an update on tornado damage

Kentucky

KENTUCKY (WEHT) – Beshear gave an update on tornado damage earlier Sunday afternoon.

A federal state of emergency has been granted by President Joe Biden. Governor Andy Beshear said that help from the federal government will assist in the recovery and will provide aid like water and generators. Authorities say four twisters hit the state in all – including one with a path of about 200 miles. Tens of thousands of people are still without power.

“This is Kentucky’s most devastating tornado event in our history. We have lost far too many of our brothers and sisters. The damage is devastating. Entire blocks – more than one block with nothing standing. To the people of America, there is no lens big enough to show you the extent of the damage here in Graves County or in Kentucky. Nothing that was standing in the direct line of this tornado is still standing.” Beshear said in the press conference.
