Kentucky lawmakers rejected a proposal to raise the smoking age to 21.

A Senate committee voted down a bill which would have banned anyone under 21 from using tobacco products.

The measure had support from Altria, one of the world’s largest tobacco companies.

Kentucky is one of the largest tobacco-producing states in the country.
