On Monday at 1 p.m., Attorney General Andy Beshear will address area seniors at the Munday Activity Center, at 1650 West 2nd Street, in Owensboro.

The focus of Beshear’s visit is entitled “Clearing Out Medicine Cabinets.”

This event, coordinated by Green River Area Development District’s (GRADD) Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living will provide information to area seniors regarding appropriate disposal of opioid prescriptions.

The Attorney General’s office launched the Kentucky Opioid Disposal Program in August 2017, in an effort to address the state’s drug epidemic, according to the office’s website.

The program will make available a drug deactivation pouch, Deterra, which allows for safe disposal of opioid medications at home.

The Attorney General will deliver these Deterra pouches to be distributed to seniors in the seven-county GRADD area.
