WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky (WEHT)- Friday was the last day on the job for 40 workers at the Dotiki mine in Webster County, Kentucky.
The workers were notified they would lose their jobs in a warning notice issued two months ago. Production at the mine officially ended last year.
The mine’s owners Webster County coal cited weak market conditions as the reason to close the mine. At one point, Dotiki employed as many as 200 people and produced nearly two and a half million tons of coal a year.
