The public was invited to a forum entitled “Let’s Talk About Bullying,”at Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church, at 937 Washington Street, in Henderson, Kentucky.
Bullying is something that one in two people under 25 will experience in their lifetime. It comes in all shapes, sizes, and subtleties. The outcome of bullying can lead to many negative outcomes, like mental illnesses, substance use and suicide. Bullying is everybody’s problem, not just the person being bullied.
Ms. Jamie Like, a district social worker with Henderson County School, discussed bullying and how it is handled in the school system.
Like says the district has seen 94 reported cases of bullying this year but hopes to bring that number down.
Mrs. Amanda Curlin, the Youth Services Center Coordinator at North Middle School discussed Olweus, a bullying prevention program that is currently being utilized at North Middle School.
