Local leaders are now speaking out on the arguments happening now in the Supreme Court.
Same-sex marriage is legal in Indiana and Illinois, but not yet in Kentucky.
Wally Paynter with the Tri-State Alliance says it’s difficult to anticipate what the vote will be.
But for him, marriage equality is the goal.
“I’m hopeful that there will be uniformity, if they make the decision I hope they make, allowing it in all 50 states… But we’ll just have to wait and see til June,” said Paynter.
The cases before the court come from Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. Those are four of the 14 remaining states that allow only heterosexual marriage.
