An infant has been taken to the hospital and two people have been arrested in Mount Vernon.
According to Mount Vernon Police, ambulance crews were called for a 1-year-old with medical problems. That 1-year-old was then taken to the hospital.
MVPD said 24-year-old Richard Kennedy and 24-year-old Samantha Burris were driving the child to the hospital around 2:00 p.m. Wednesday when they called 911.
Police said they were trying to make it a hospital in Evansville before making the call.
Both Kennedy and Burris have been arrested and charged with child neglect.
Police say neither Kennedy nor Burris are a parent of the child. They do say however, that both knew at least one parent of the infant.
Both are being held at the Posey County Jail.
Authorities have not released the name of the infant, or the extent of their injuries.
