CORYDON, Ind. (WEHT) – First Capitol Christian Church in Corydon has purchased $6.2 million in medical debt across four southern Indiana counties.
Church members raised the money by hosting lemonade stands, sending in spare change, and putting money in envelopes with a prayer written on it.
The church partnered with a non-profit group that will choose which debts will be paid off.
The senior pastor says the initial goal was to help people in Harrison County but enough money was raised to erase debt for those in Crawford, Washington, and Perry counties as well.
