Gas prices are on the rise heading into Labor Day, but numbers remain lower than in previous years.
AAA says right now the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is at $2.22.
That’s six cents more than last week, but 27 cents less than this time last year.
The rise in price right now is thanks to rising oil cost, recent weather issues on the Gulf Coast, and the potential for tropical storms.
Even considering all of this, AAA says Labor Day gas prices should be at their lowest since 2004.
