Abandoned dogs in Muhlenberg County find new homes

Local News

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – Dogs found abandoned in Muhlenberg County earlier this month, including one that was shot, have found new homes or have been sent to rescues.

Nine dogs were found on the side of Rockport Paradise Road. One was shot and killed and another was shot in the leg.

Five additional dogs were taken in as a result of the investigation, bringing the total number of dogs to 14.

The one that was shot in the leg is now named Vixen. That’s according to a Facebook post from The Muhlenberg County Humane Society. We’re told she required amputation surgery due to damage to the bone.

The Muhlenberg County Humane Society says after she’s released from her surgery, she will go home with a police officer and a dispatcher.

The shelter also says the huskies went to homes and rescues to get the care they need. Just one of the dogs still needs a home.

Two people have been charged in connection with the abandonment but authorities don’t believe these people were responsible for shooting the animals.
