MUHLENBERG COUNTY (WEHT) – A dog in Muhlenberg County found abandoned and shot in the leg has gone home with her new owners.

Facebook posts from the Muhlenberg County Humane Society say Vixen the German Shepard went home with a local police officer and dispatcher on New Years Day.

She also got a new name, Hope.

They say she will have a home with kids that will give her lots of attention.

Hope had to get her leg amputated due to damage to the bone. She and other dogs were found abandoned in December on Rockport Paradise Road. One dog was shot and killed.

Five additional dogs were taken in as a result of the investigation, bringing the total number of dogs to 14.

Two people have been charged in connection with the abandonment but authorities don’t believe these people were responsible for shooting the animals.
