Update: Driver hospitalized following crash on Big Cynthiana Rd.

VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – A driver has been hospitalized following a crash on Big Cynthiana Rd in Vanderburgh County.

The crash involving an SUV and box truck, caused the truck to overturn.

It happened just before 7 a.m. State Road 65 (Big Cynthiana Rd.) and Nisbet Rd.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash and were told the occupant in the SUV was pinned inside the vehicle with a serious leg injury. That person was extricated and taken to an area hospital.

According to deputies, the SUV was driving south on S.R. 65 when it crossed the center line, hitting the box truck that was driving northbound.

The crash caused the box truck to overturn.

The driver of the SUV told deputies that he was driving too fast around a curve, causing him to hit the box truck.

The crash is still under investigation, pending toxicology results.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The driver of the box truck was not hurt.

State Road 65 was shut down for a few hours while crews cleaned up the area.
