DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) — The Daviess County Coroner’s Office confirms one person has died in a crash on Highway 431.

The crash happened in the 7400 block of Highway 431 in Daviess County.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office tells our crew on the scene that three vehicles were involved in the accident. Four people were confirmed to be injured this morning.

Just after 9:00 a.m. Coroner Jeff Jones confirmed one person died in the crash.

Everyone involved in the accident has been taken to the hospital, and at least one required surgery. Deputies said one person’s injuries were considered life-threatening.

The road was closed shortly after the crash happened around 5:45 a.m. An accident reconstructionist evaluated the scene traffic while traffic was diverted through the nearby parking lot of Southern Oaks Elementary on to Hill Bridge Road.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet opened the road around 8:30 a.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, a vehicle pulled out of Hill Bridge Rd. into another vehicle’s path. The vehicle that was hit went through a guardrail and came to a rest in a ditch on the west side of the road.

After a short time, a third vehicle on US 431 hit the vehicle still sitting sideways in the road due to darkness.

The driver of the vehicle involved in two collisions was sent to the hospital but later pronounced dead.

Three other people were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but a toxicology test is pending, authorities said.
