The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit against the Gibson County Jail.

The ACLU says the Gibson County Jail is overcrowded and understaffed and therefore is creating dangerous working and living conditions for the staff and inmates.

Right now, the ACLU is asking a judge to simply do something about this situation.

Eyewitness News has confirmed that the lawsuit was filed on behalf of an inmate currently being held at the jail.

There’s not a court date yet.

The ACLU is asking that it become a class action lawsuit.
