HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — The 2020 Agriculturalist of the Year and Lifetime Achievement awards will be presented at the Chamber Agriculture Appreciation Breakfast on Thursday, at the Chase Fulcher Archery Center on Garden Mile Road in Henderson.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Tony Brannon, Dean of the Hutson School of Agriculture at Murray State University.
“Henderson County is one of Kentucky’s premier farming counties, regular ranked among the state’s top three corn and soybean producers and often ranked No. 1,” Agriculture Chair Dr. Katy Mussat said.
She adds, “The county has been blessed with many outstanding people in agriculture, and we wish to once again thank and honor those who help put food on our tables and make Henderson County a better place.”
The Agriculturalist of the Year is awarded to an individual who is a farmer actively engaged in management and day-to-day operation or is employed in a Henderson agribusiness or works as an ag lender at a Henderson lending institution.
The Lifetime Achievement award is presented to an individual who is retired from one of those agricultural endeavors.
In both cases, the recipient will be recognized for their involvement in agriculture, ag development, church and community organizations such as FFA, 4-H, state or local ag programs, humanitarianism, etc.
The optional cost of the breakfast is $1.48, which is symbolic of what farmers would receive for the type of breakfast that will be served.
