Annual Memorial Day Run held at Garvin Park

Local News

A bit of a twist on Memorial Day remembrances in the form of a run. The 3rd Annual Evansville Memorial Day Run was held Monday morning at Garvin Park.

Runners and walkers were encouraged to highlight their own military service or that of a loved one. Current military members and veterans were honored with a special salute before the event.

Part of the proceeds will support the work of Evansville’s Rolling Thunder chapter.

“We help local veterans and not just in Evansville, from the surrounding area,” said Rolling Thunder Chapter 6 President Jerry Blake. “Anybody comes to town, they’re having problems or anything like that, that’s what we’re here for. All of our money goes back into veterans.”

A festival complete with food, beer, and music followed the run.
