EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – An anonymous tip leads to the arrest and conviction of a meth dealer.

A Vanderburgh County Circuit Court Magistrate sentenced 42-year-old Samuel Newbold to 40 years in prison for numerous drug offenses following a lengthy investigation.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation was sparked by an anonymous tip into the WeTip hotline.

In February, an anonymous caller told law enforcement about possible drug activity at an apartment on East Maryland Street in Evansville.

The next day detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment. They seized 132.5 grams of meth, along with numerous drug paraphernalia items, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
