Arrest made after one person dead, 2 injured in shooting

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – One person is dead and two others were injured after a shooting in Henderson around 12 AM Saturday. That’s according to the Henderson Police Department.

Officials tell us they responded to 702 Atkinson Street after reports of a person being shot.

We’re told Jaiwaun Latrell Wadlington was found unresponsive in the intersection of Atkinson and Loeb. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say two other people were shot. One was treated and released from the hospital, the other is in critical condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say a party with over 100 people, including juveniles, was happening at Thomason’s Banquet Hall when a fight broke out in the street and someone started shooting.

Police say 18 year old Japaris Baker was later located in Henderson and was arrested. He is charged with assault in the first and second degree in regards to the two injured individuals.

The Henderson Police Department tells us the death of Jaiwaun Latrell Wadlington is still under investigation. If you have any information, you’re asked to call police at 270-831-1295.
