HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in an investigation in which deputies said two small children were taken to a hospital.

25-year-old Caleb Cobb has been arrested, according to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities went to the Quail Run Apartments to investigate a report of child abuse Thursday night.

Deputies said they found two small children that had been assaulted. Both children were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Cobb is charged with two counts of assault and tampering with physical evidence. He also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.

The sheriff’s office said Cobb had been left in charge of the children during the time authorities were called to the scene.

Cobb fled the scene once authorities were called, according to the sheriff’s office.

Cobb was arrested Friday, the day following the incident, in the area of Farmers Crossing Rd. in White Plains.
