Update (7:42 p.m.)
Around 10:30 am a call came into the Spencer County Sheriff’s office stating they saw a man walking on County Road 350 N and 100 East near Ken Shourds Equipment.
Knowing that there was a man on the loose who allegedly attempted to abduct a nine-year-old little girl in Daviess County Wednesday, law enforcement didn’t waste any time.
Units arrived within a few minutes and the search began.
“Units arrived within a few minutes and began a perimeter set up, a search with K-9 units, we had a helicopter from Indiana State Police that had come down also to assist in the search. We had numerous agencies involved, Conservation, Railroad Police. You name it, they were here from all different agencies around and outside of Spencer County. At 1 o’clock, a little after 1 o’clock this afternoon I’m able to report that we were able to take Robert Chilcoate into custody without further incident.”
Chilcoate wasn’t the only person arrested in connection to the alleged attempted abduction, Francis Wilkins V was arrested Wednesday after leading Daviess County law enforcement on a chase that ended in Spencer County, Indiana.
The driver of the van the suspects were in, lost control of the vehicle and it ended up coming to a stop in ditch at which time both suspects fled on foot. Law enforcement was able to arrest Wilkins V but Chilcoate got away.
The alleged incident took place at Colony Estates Subdivision in Owensboro and one of the little girls notice a suspicious-looking van.
Chilcoate and Wilkins V are facing multiple charges in both Kentucky and Indiana.
SPENCER COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – Indiana State Police said on Thursday that the manhunt for Robert Chilcoate ended with Chilcoate’s arrest near US 231 and CR400 N.
Chilcoate was being sought in connection with an attempted child abduction case.
SPENCER COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office identified a suspect they are looking for in connection with an attempted child abduction case.
Authorities identified the at-large suspect as Robert Chilcoate.
There is no active search for Chilcoate at this moment, authorities said.
Chilcoate was identified as 5’6” and 250 lbs. with numerous tattoos.
Two people were taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with the case, which started as an investigation in Daviess County but led to a chase into Spencer County.
One of those people in custody was identified as Francis Wilkins V.
