The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is warning consumers about home improvement fraud.
As summer approaches, construction work increases.
The sheriff’s department says some contractors will claim to be legitimate, offer unrealistic discounts, and then do poor work or no work at all.
Officials recommend doing your homework and verifying whether or not the contractor is licensed, bonded and insured.
You can contact the Vanderburgh County Building Commission or the Better Business Bureau if you have questions.
You can also contact the sheriff’s department if you come across something suspicious.
