Local News

MUNCIE, Ind. (WEHT)-Ball State students walked out of class protesting an incident that happened between a professor and a student.

The professor called the university police supposedly because a black student refused a request to move to a different seat. Other students have said there had been several prior complaints about the same professor.

Geoffrey S. Mearns Ball State’s President was among those attending the walkout. Mearns previously said the school’s dean met with the professor and that he will be monitored moving forward.

Student groups are demanding that the tenured professor retire and go through sensitivity training.
