Indiana State Police arrested a Bedford man after he escaped from custody — not once, but twice — during the same evening.
Troopers say they pulled over 54-year-old Martin Robbins in Orange County shortly before 7 on Wednesday night.
They say once Robbins stopped, he got out of his car and tried to run away, but was quickly captured.
Troopers say Robbins got away again after being put into a police car.
He reportedly slipped the handcuffs from behind his back to his front.
Troopers say he then climbed into the driver’s seat — and ran off again.
A State police K-9 eventually tracked Robbins to a nearby shed.
Robbins was additionally wanted on warrants through California for burglary and through Lawrence County, Indiana for driving as a habitual traffic offender, and faces a number of charges, including Theft, Operating While Intoxicated and Residential Entry.
