This year’s National Women & Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day takes place on Friday, March 10.

One in every four people living with HIV in the US is a woman, and nearly 20% of all new HIV diagnoses are among women.

Most women who are HIV positive got the disease from heterosexual sex.

The only way to know for sure if you have HIV is to be tested.

TRI-CAP offers HIV testing on a sliding scale fee and accepts all forms of insurance, and is located at 607 Third Avenue, in Jasper.

Appointments for HIV testing and other family planning services are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

For an appointment, or to learn more, call 812-482-2233, ext 131. Appointments are required.

TRI-CAP’s mission is to empower people in the community to accept responsibility for achieving personal and economic well-being by providing health, housing and educational services.
