Bids are in for Deaconess Aquatic Center project

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The bids are in for the Deaconess Aquatic Center and the president of the firm that is designing the aquatic center, Jeff Justice, went in front of the Parks Board Wednesday to update them on the project.

Justice told the board, “We are in the process of evaluating the numbers that we have, and comparing those and aligning those with the funds that are actually available.”

He went on to say, “The city has a commitment for their amount of dollars that they can spend on the project and we are still in the process of soliciting contributions for the private sector. So the private sector’s funds and the city’s contribution will go together to determine what exactly can be spent on the project.”

Justice told the board that he would be back in front of them soon to outline their recommendations for the board to consider.

Once the project gets underway it is expected to take 16 to 18 months to complete and Justice hopes the Deaconess Aquatic Center will be open by the end of 2020.
