Bids open for Deaconess Aquatic Center

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Evansville Parks Board opened bids to build the Deaconess Aquatics Center.

Evansville Parks Director Brian Holtz says the cap for the project is around $26 to $27 million.

He says the board will start looking at the bids in detail and hopefully award bids in August.

Holtz also says the site for construction is already prepared with a shelter house, basketball courts and former Garvin Park Pool all removed.

“Keep in mind, we have plans down the road working on replacing those basketball courts somewhere else in the park, as well as a new shelter in Garvin Park as well.”

The plans are to open the new pool in November 2020.
