Boil Advisory Lifted on West Side of Evansville

Local News

Restaurant owners on the west side of Evansville are now relieved that a boil advisory has been lifted after days of not having access to consumable water.

Saturday night, the boil advisory was issued after a water main broke along Upper Mount Vernon Rd. at Tekoppel.

Several days of hot temperatures caused the Ohio River to warm.

The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility said warm water could cause pipes to expand and break.

The advisory led restaurants to find another way to serve their customers.

Tyler Elpers with Azzip Pizza say, “We just can’t serve any sodas through our fountains. We have to serve them with cans. It adds a degree of difficulty but it’s nothing crazy. That’s the only big difference for us really. We have really loyal customers.”

While some say they were able to stay open, some restaurants chose to close since they needed water to cook some of their food.
