BOONVILLE, Ind (WEHT) – Boonville’s Mike Wilson has been a softball legend over the years, and on Saturday, his legacy was honored.
The softball field was named Mike Wilson Field and the day was proclaimed Mike Wilson day in Boonville.
“It’s really special because this is where I spent 32 years of my life,” said Wilson. “I just really thank everyone in this community.”
Wilson led the softball program to it’s first state title in 2006, as well as 673 wins in his time at Boonville. He was named to the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association Hall of Fame in 2014. Wilson guided the Pioneers to nine state appearances, second all-time.
