EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Chocolate caramel-covered Oreos and Rice Krispie Treats are new to a booth at the Fall Festival, thanks to a man with years of candy-making experience.
Booth 82, the Young Democrats, is known for its delicious gyros topped with tomatoes, onions, and a special sauce.
However, the booth is now getting into dessert thanks to Rick Riney.
Riney said he learned over 20 years ago how to make candy treats and has spent many hours making candy for firefighters.
“It’s a lot in the timing. You have put the caramel on top of them, then you have to freeze them which then makes the chocolate adhere to them. So it’s a lengthy process. It’s not real hard, but it’s time-consuming,” Riney said.
