This week, Cops Connecting with Kids and The Dream Center are teaming up with Bennett Motors and The Dream Museum for a big charity event. The “Dream Big Weekend” will be held from October 2-4 at Bennett Motors on the corner of Heidelbach Ave. and Diamond Ave.
The three day event will raise money for The Dream Center to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for 1,000 families and Christmas gifts for more than 400 children. Money raised will also help Cops Connecting with Kids provide a trip to Walt Disney World for 40 students from Cedar Hall Community School and Glenwood Leadership Academy.
Members of the Evansville Police Department and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office will spend each day sitting in the “Corvette High in the Sky”. Local celebrities, including Eyewitness News Brad Byrd, will also be sitting in the Corvette. They will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday, October 2, and continue until 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 4. It’s to raise awareness for the event and encourage the community to make donations.
The Newburgh BBQ Coalition will be on site Friday and Saturday selling ribs, tenderloins, and pulled pork sandwiches. The event will also be the opening for the Dream Car Museum. The museum is home to many exotic cars including Corvettes, Lamborghinis, and Ferraris. Guided tours will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free with donations accepted.
Eyewitness News Brad Byrd sits down with Evansville Police Chief Billy Bolin and Deezura Jagoe, a 7th grader at Glenwood Leadership Academy, to preview The Dream Big Weekend event.
