Negotiations continue to be at a standstill between the city of Evansville and the IceMen. The issue is the elusive new lease for the IceMen to continue playing at Ford Center.
On Thursday, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke announced if the city cannot keep the IceMen, the city will work to bring another team to town. This comes after negotiations with the professional hockey team reached an impasse on Wednesday.
Mayor Winnecke said in his news conference Thursday afternoon the city has three options. Negotiations can continue with the IceMen. The IceMen could transfer ownership to another team that would play at Ford Center Or a new team could replace the IceMen. Venuworks has been instructed to contact other teams, and it is being done before an ECHL meeting in February.
Brad Byrd sits down with Mayor Winnecke to discuss negotiations between the city and the IceMen and it’s options now that the deadline to approve a new lease has passed.
