HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Owensboro Police arrested a man who barricaded himself inside a home on Wednesday.
According to authorities, detectives opened an investigation into Grant Givens, 32, on Monday in reference to a fraudulent firearm transaction. A release from OPD says vendors witha local gun show conducted a background check on Givens when he attempted to purchase a firearm, but failed to meet the background qualifications.
On Wednesday, officers with OPD initiated a warrant in the 4100 block of Reyeland Point to attempt to arrest Givens. Authorities say after making contact with Givens, he barricaded himself inside the home. Detectives from the criminal investigations division, the emergency response team and the hostage negotiation responded to the scene. Authorities say Givens presented a firearm during the negotiations. Authorities say the the Emergency Response Team was able to make contact with the subject and coordinate a peaceful surrender.
Givens was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Daviess County Detention Center on the following charges:
- Fraudulent Firearm Transaction
- Two counts of violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO
