The Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office said on Wednesday that further investigation into a September fire in Bremen led to the arrest of 31-year-old Thomas Baxter Jr.
Baxter Jr. is charged with arson in the 3rd degree.
BREMEN, Ky. (WEHT) – A man has been arrested on drug charges following two explosions and a fire at a home in Bremen back in September.
On September 12, the Bremen Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire on Hollow Ln.
First responders said they found an outbuilding and a vehicle on fire at the property.
The front door was open and authorities said a strong odor was detected from inside the home.
A search warrant was executed at the home, where authorities said they found suspected synthetic marijuana, crack cocaine, scales, baggies, and several large amounts of prescription pills.
The Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office said the house was determined to belong to 50-year-old Thomas Baxter Sr.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Baxter on charges of trafficking cocaine, trafficking synthetic drugs, trafficking legend drugs, and possessing drug paraphernalia.
On October 1, following an incident with Kentucky State Police, Baxter was arrested and served the outstanding warrant.
He was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.
The fire and explosions are still under investigation.
According to the Muhlenberg County Detention Center’s website, Baxter also faces charges of speeding, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and fleeing or evading police.
