Broken water meter leads to large bill for Webster County homeowner

WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – A broken water meter leads to a large bill for one Webster county home.

Webster Water District officials say when they tried to fix a broken main, they found the customer had never been billed for his water.

The main was installed 28 years ago, but no one seems to know when the owner or previous owner tapped into it.

Now, the customer has a bill for $6,400.

Water district officials say they’re working with the family to solve the issue.

Both sides declined further comment on the issue.
