Bus Riders Use METS Sunday Service For First Time

Local News

Getting around Evansville is getting a little easier for people who take the Mets bus as new Sunday routes started today for the first time in Evansville.

With new routes and lower fares, many tri-staters say they are excited about the changes, even if it comes at the cost of free transfers.

Bus rider Scott Becker says,”I think it’s wonderful absolutely wonderful it will help a lot of people I do believe.”

Alicia Waller, also a bus rider, says the Sunday bus route made her day.

The changes came as a result of requests made last year.

Todd Robertson, Executive Director for the Department of Transportation and Services says,”It’s exciting to come down just to see the people utilizing services.”

But with any new system, comes questions.

Robertson says, “Anytime you start something new there’s always the curiosity of what will be the end result.”

But for now, the end result is a bus full of warm travelers on a Sunday night.

“Thank goodness for the bus on Sunday,” Waller says.

The Sunday bus service is available on 5 routes from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bus fares have also been lowered but free transfers have been eliminated.
