SUV crashes into The Refinery in Newburgh

Local News

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – A white SUV crashed into the entrance of The Refinery in Newburgh Thursday morning.

This happened on West Jennings Street downtown. We’re told the driver accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake.

The SUV hit the awning, turning sideways between two support posts.

Police say the vehicle did brush against the building but did not cause any damage. The driver is expected to be okay.

The Refinery later made a post a Facebook letting people know they are safe and still operating out of their rear entrance.

The Refinery said “This afternoon’s events shook us up a bit, but it’s going to take a lot more to take down our beloved 150-year-old building. We want everyone to know that we are all safe and well.”
