Cardinal Mine owner cited after employee’s death

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WEHT)-The owner of the Madisonville coal mine is cited after a miner died last September.

Jeremy Elder 39, died at Cardinal Mine when a battery-powered scoop truck hit him.

The Mining Safety and Health and Administration cited Warrior Coal saying the scooper operation did not sound an alarm before moving it through a ventilation curtain.

It is not clear if the citation includes a fine.
