Churches finding a way to come together for Easter Sunday

Local News

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)- Easter Sunday is only a few days away and with current restrictions due to the coronavirus churches will not be able to hold services in their buildings.

So a few Evansville churches have come together and will hold a community Easter service in Eastland Mall’s parking lot.

Organizers say this is their way of trying to lift the spirits of those in Evansville.

“I think this is a great opportunity to encourage our community so to give them a semblance of something that is normal. Expressing our faith through worship, through service. It’s also an opportunity for us to connect with the body of Christ which is really important. And also I think to give hope to this community,” Phil Heller says.

The service will start at 11:00 am. They’re asking people to stay in their cars and will make sure everyone stays six feet apart.

A similar service will be held in Newburgh at 10:00 am in the Showplace Cinema Newburgh parking lot.
