BOONVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The City of Boonville received a large federal grant for water system improvements. And that includes new solar fields.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture granted the city $630,000.
This comes after the city applied for a $4.3 million loan from the USDA to work on several projects.
City officials say part of that money will go to building solar fields for the wellfield and water treatment plants.
“Those two items alone will save the City of Boonville an estimated $8,000 a month in savings for our water.”
Mayor Wyatt says it will hold bids for the project in 2020, with construction expected to be complete by 2022.
