HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Club is ready to help kids in the Henderson community.
A ribbon cutting happened Wednesday afternoon at the Community Baptist Church, called “Great futures – doors open!”
Steve Winkler – CEO of the club – says this is an exciting day for the community as it opens another environment for kids to go after school.
“It’s providing another opportunity for at-risk kids of paying that $12 a year that they may not be able to attend other after school programs, so that’s why it’s important for clubs in all communities.”
Most children will attend the program from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekly. Right now, he says 83 kids have signed up, but he expects that number to increase.
The monthly cost for families is just one dollar a month.
If you’re interested in joining, you can contact Henderson County Schools or Community Baptist Church.
Cliff Hagan – former NBA champion and UK basketball player – founded the Boys and Girls Club in Owensboro.
One day, Winkler hopes, the Boys and Girls Club will open its own facility in Henderson.
