Closing Illinois Mine Announces Number of Layoffs

White County Coal in Illinois, also known as the Pattiki Mine, will cease operations by the end of the year. Now, officials have announced how many workers will be impacted.

According to information acquired thorugh a Freedom of Information Act request, 227 employees will be fired when the Pattiki Mine goes dark.

Most of the layoffs will take place during a two week period of November 14-29. These employees are not represented by a union.

Pattiki Mine is operated by Alliance Coal Partners.
